safe or spontaneous?

There are two ways to travel. Planning ahead or simply not planning ahead.

I personally have always wanted to just be able to go to the airport, walk up to the plane ticket counter, and say, "whatever the next flight may be, put me on it." There are many things that we have to take into consideration as Alex Liivet has shown us. He had eight main points that he makes in this article. Before reading this article, I was full-fledge, gung-ho, one-hundred percent, all for this spectacular idea where you can just be spontaneous and just walk up out of the blue to that counter and be ready for whatever life has to throw at you wherever you go. After reading this, I would have to say that it does not seem as accelerating anymore which I know is bad to say but it is the truth. It talks about vaccinations and how you do not want to go to some place and attract some terrible disease. The thing with vaccinations is that you need to have planned going to the airport and it is not as "out of the blue" as it could be. Also, vacations are expensive and some of them take weeks or months or more than one shot over a period of time to be activated. Also, visas and money. Money would be a big issue for some because taking spontaneous trips wherever is not free though how much we travellers wish it would be. I am rethinking everything and really taking everything into consideration. Of course it is still a dream of mine to be able to do something excited and out of my comfort zone but now I am more prepared where as if I had gone through with my dream before reading this eye-opening article, I probably would be, short story, stuck and broke. You can still be the one that person who takes the next flight to wherever, but you should envy the people who take the next flight wherever and when they come back home, all they can say is how much of a good time it was.

    1. I too think it would be amazing if you could walk into the airport not even knowing where you are headed. It would be very fun and exciting. Of course every thing has its down side. Countries around the world now have all kinds of issues. There are lots of diseases and crime- related problems in certain countries. It would not be good to get on a plane that is going to a place with a bunch of terrorism. Also, you want to be prepared for your trip to the next flight. It would be bad to pack clothes for a sunny warm place and end up going to a cold place. it is also important to know about the place you are going. For example, what if you went to a country that spoke a language you did not know. As much as people would like to get up and travel to a place, there are always things to consider.

    2. I have never been of the spontaneous variety, and sad to say that I most likely never will be. I'm a very "stay within my boundaries" type of person and have never wanted to get up and leave on a vacation. I like to plan things out logically and sensibly to produce the most organized and stress-free experience. I've always wished that I could be the type of person to throw caution to the wind, but after reading your post, I've reverted to my main way of thinking, haha. :)
